OurTurn is an iPhone app for couples built around one daily question and custom question-card sessions. You can use it together in person, send a question deck to your partner, and optionally keep text answers or voice memories.

I wanted those few things to feel considered and calm. I design, build, and maintain the app myself, so the choices in OurTurn—from how a card feels to how private content is stored—come from one product direction.

Why OurTurn

The conversation is the useful part.

OurTurn came from wanting a couple-question app that was beautifully made but much simpler than the increasingly large relationship apps already available. The valuable moment is not an endless set of features. It is finding a good question, having the conversation, and keeping something meaningful when you choose to.

OurTurn takes a quieter approach: a focused question-card experience that feels natural to open together, without turning saved answers into a social feed.

OurTurn remains intentionally focused and lightweight. Ongoing subscription revenue supports continued question additions, new conversation packs, maintenance, compatibility with future iOS releases, and continued refinement.

Your private history should not depend on my server.

Core questions live with the app. Your saved answers, History, and voice recordings are kept locally by default, and OurTurn does not require an account or a custom ClearlySimple relationship-content backend.

When you want to send a deck to your partner, file-based sharing lets you use the apps you already trust instead of creating an OurTurn relationship account. Backup and export tools are intended to keep control of meaningful content with you. This reduces unnecessary infrastructure dependence without pretending that any device or shared file is immune to loss.

ClearlySimple

Built independently, with a clear set of principles.

I build OurTurn under ClearlySimple, my independent product practice. The name sits behind the app rather than in front of it, but the principles are visible: simple software, privacy-respecting choices, strong native-feeling design, sustainable ownership, and no infrastructure that the core experience does not need.

The aim is not to make the biggest possible product. It is to make a focused one that can remain useful without becoming bloated.
